Description

Ingredients
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 fresh jalapeños, seeded & chopped
- 1 cup shredded vegan cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl, activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water; let sit 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours, until doubled.
- Punch down dough, then knead in jalapeños and vegan cheese.
- Shape into a loaf, place on a baking sheet, and cover. Let rise 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake 30–40 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Roast jalapeños for smoky flavor.
Add garlic powder, cumin, or smoked paprika for extra depth.
For gluten-free bread, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
Brush with olive oil before baking for a shiny crust.
Cool completely before slicing to avoid a gummy interior.
