Description

A simple yet hearty dish that pairs tender steak with sweet, savory cabbage. Packed with protein, fiber, and flavor, this recipe is perfect for a wholesome weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (flank, sirloin, or chuck)
  • 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 tsp thyme or rosemary, splash of vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Season steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear steak 3–5 minutes per side, remove, and set aside.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the same pan; cook until fragrant.
  5. Stir in shredded cabbage, cooking until tender (about 8–10 minutes).
  6. Return steak to pan, slice if desired, and mix with cabbage.
  7. Adjust seasoning and serve hot.

Notes

Choose lean cuts (sirloin/flank) for a lighter option.

Add herbs, Worcestershire sauce, or chili flakes for extra flavor.

Works with green, red, savoy, or napa cabbage.

Leftovers keep 3 days in the fridge; reheat with a splash of water.
